Professor Jeanine Young receives Order of Australia (AM) award

1 Dec 2020

Professor Jeanine Young was recently recognised in the Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honours List – and has received the Member of the Order of Australia award for her significant service to tertiary education, to medical research, and to nursing.  Jeanine is the Professor of Nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast and an Adjunct Professor with the Centre for Online Health (COH).  Jeanine is very well known for her academic skills and research translation expertise – and has gained professional recognition from many universities, government agencies and health services throughout Australia and around the world.

Jeanine specialises in infant care practices, breastfeeding and safe infant sleep environments, and is passionate about supporting culturally appropriate strategies to reduce Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health inequalities. This vision aligns perfectly with the COH effort to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and to help develop new models of care which not only improve access – but also reflect community needs and preferences.

Prof Young attended a formal ceremony and reception at Government House in Brisbane, hosted by His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.

This award is in recognition of her significant service to tertiary education, to medical research, and to nursing.  The award recognises the hard work and contributions that Jeanine has provided to the community through many years of service.

Congratulations Jeanine on this significant achievement.
