Mr Floyd Leedie has been awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to Indigenous health in Queensland. The Centre for Online Health (COH) team has been fortunate to collaborate with Floyd for nearly a decade, and he also holds an Adjunct Professor position at The University of Queensland. Over the years his work with COH has centred on evaluating community-based programs involving virtual care, health and wellbeing services, and telerehabilitation.
Floyd said he was humbled when receiving news of the award. "I felt honoured and privileged to have received such a prestigious award, but truth be told, it’s the result of a team effort… Board Members (past and present), staff (past and present), service partners, and research partners can also be proud because the award is the result of everyone's efforts", he said.

Floyd has been the CEO of Goondir Health Services since 2008, leading efforts to deliver holistic health care and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. With more than 25 years of executive experience, he is widely recognised as a prominent Indigenous health leader. He has contributed extensively to governance, research, digital health innovation, and workforce development, served on numerous state and national advisory boards, and represented First Nations communities internationally.
We warmly congratulate Floyd on this well deserved honour and thank him for his outstanding contributions to both research and Indigenous health service delivery. A full list of his achievements is available on the Australia Day 2026 Honours List webpage.
We are grateful for our long standing collaboration and continue to be inspired by all that he accomplishes!
