UQ re-appoints Jeanine Young as an Honorary Professor

After a nomination from the Centre for Online Health (COH) team, Prof Jeanine Young from the University of the Sunshine Coast has been re-appointed as an Honorary Professor with The University of Queensland (UQ). This title recognises over a decade of close collaboration and contribution to the UQ community and to research more broadly.

Professor Young and her research team members are responsible for a range of research programs relating to maternal, paediatric and infant health services and clinical education, which incorporate acute care, community-based care and palliative care.

Professor Young has established a network of government and non-government Aboriginal controlled medical service sites throughout Queensland as part of the Pēpi-Pod® Program Project which involves the evaluation of a safe infant sleep enabler in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in metropolitan, regional, and rural/remote areas of Queensland. She is also leading the implementation of the statewide Queensland Health Safer Sleep guideline within hospital and health services, in collaboration with the Queensland Paediatric Quality Council.

Professor Young has held a UQ honorary appointment since 2012, during which time her research has been acknowledge by many awards, e.g. Hesta National Award for Team Innovation winner (2014); National Lead Clinicians Group Winner, Indigenous Maternal and Child Health category (2014); and the Australian College of Nursing Trailblazer Finalist (2019). Professor Young's tertiary education and research contributions have been recognised nationally as she was also awarded as a Member of the Order of Australia. 

Projects with COH have included co-supervision of PhD and MPhil candidates to completion, peer-review committee member for COH’s conference Successes and Failures in Telehealth, as well as guest lectures and forum presentations.
