Biography

Aparna is a joint PhD student and a Prime Minister's Research Fellow affiliated with the Centre for Online Health at The University of Queensland and Industrial Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
Aparna's research intersects healthcare operations and digital health, aiming to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery. Her PhD research focuses on optimizing telemedicine integration within existing healthcare delivery systems to enhance accessibility, service delivery, and resilience against infrastructure disruptions. Her work employs discrete-event simulation to model and optimize appointment scheduling strategies for integrated telemedicine and in-person consultations by addressing key operational challenges, including managing infrastructure disruptions and balancing scheduled and walk-in consultations to enhance healthcare service efficiency.
Beyond her PhD, Aparna is keen on leveraging computational modelling and data-driven approaches to enhance healthcare service delivery and inform policy decisions in resource-limited settings.
