Australia has 12 times the global incidence of melanoma, one the world’s lowest number of dermatologists per capita and concentration of the dermatology workforce in large metropolitan areas. Teledermatology is of particular interest in Australia to address these impediments to dermatological care.
A key research collaboration between the Centre for Online Health and The University of Queensland’s Dermatology Research Centre is developing and trialling teledermatology for the early detection of melanoma.
