Professor Peter Yellowlees has been announced as the keynote speaker at Successes and Failures in Telemedicine (SFT-17) – being held in Brisbane from 30-31 October, 2017.

The University of Queensland and Centre for Online Health (COH) in particular are looking forward to welcoming Peter back to Australia – given his previous role as the founding COH Director from 1999-2003.

Peter has had an illustrious career with a research focus on physician health, telepsychiatry, and health informatics. He is a world renowned academic and clinician, with considerable experience in public administration, the private sector, and change management.

His current role is Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California Davis.

He is also the president elect of the American Telemedicine Association.

The ATA is the peak body for promoting the use of new technologies to enable equitable, cost-effective, and innovative healthcare in the United States.

Previously in Australia, Peter pioneered telepsychiatry services for people living in remote locations; and was instrumental in the establishment of the Queensland Telemedicine Network – one of the largest videoconference networks operated by a health department in Australia.

Peter is an experienced speaker and media commentator who has written and produced over 150 video editorials on Psychiatry for Medscape. He has published five books and over 200 scientific articles and book chapters.
