The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has awarded a prestigious fellowship to Associate Professor Sisira Edirippulige from UQ’s Centre for Online Health (COH) to investigate digital health education and training needs in Japan’s medical schools.
Hosted by the Kyushu University Hospital based in the Telemedicine Development Centre of Asia (TEMDEC), Sisira will examine the current state of digital health education and training and the ways to integrate this new discipline to train future medical professionals in Japan. Sisira will collaborate with a Japanese counterpart Dr Kuriko Kudo from TEMDEC in this study.
Sisira previously has been a JSPS postdoctoral fellow. His collaboration with Kyushu University has resulted in research projects, research workshops and exchange of academics between Japan and Australia.
Sisira has led the UQ COH’s digital health education program for over 20 years making a notable contribution to build Australia’s digital health workforce. His education practice and research in the field has influenced the policy changes with regards to digital health education and training in Australia and overseas.
