Presented by: Dr Gaurav Puri, Endocrinologist and Chair Statewide Diabetes Clinical Network

Gaurav is very passionate about health equity, sustainability and building system capacity by establishing integrated models of patient centred care delivery with a primary intent of co-designing services with the help of the consumers, for the consumers and by the consumers. Gaurav is the Chair of Queensland Statewide Diabetes Clinical Network and Senior Staff Specialist Endocrine & Diabetes at Cairns Hospital. Gaurav graduated in 2003 and has since worked in various health services including NHS and WA health; and he calls Queensland home for the past ~5 years.

Virtual Outpatient Integration for Chronic Disease (VOICeD) allows people to see multiple healthcare providers at one appointment, from anywhere they have internet. Co-designed with consumers, VOICeD uses existing telehealth technologies and security to improve equity of access and complements face-to-face care. The Cairns Diabetes-Renal-Cardiac trial showed 100% positive patient experience (fewer appointments, less travel, one plan, easier and preferred), Positive feedback from clinicians, 350% reduction in patient time in clinic.
