Video content development to support consumer digital health literacy needs

June 2024July 2024
The University of Queensland

Our previous research has found that consumers with chronic conditions struggle to find online health information and resources (68%) and to use digital devices (72%) when receiving virtual care, despite finding both aspects highly important. There are several evidence-based and government strategies developed worldwide to support consumers to thrive in digital health use and to support online information-seeking behaviour. This winter project aimed to recruit a scholar to work closely with COH researchers to identify high quality online resources, and develop 1-3 short videos to improve awareness and understanding of the importance of telehealth, phone vs video, and how to get ready for your telehealth appointment.  Consumers from the Telehealth Consumer Reference Group were invited to participate and share their lived-experience and opinions on telehealth modalities. The videos are available to watch below.
